The Mark
A minimal 5-node network graph — one central node connected to four outer nodes by direct edges. Connectivity, shared infrastructure, and the distributed nature of research.
The Lockup
The primary lockup pairs the mark with the wordmark set in Söhne Kräftig. Mark leads, wordmark follows. Use this as the default logo in full-brand contexts.
Mark on Image
The ghost pill treatment keeps the mark legible on any photographic surface — light or dark. Use ink-a06 on bright images, white-a08 on dark.
Colour Palette
Three tiers, six core colours — paired by role. Black and white anchor the system. Ink-90 and ink-10 define the RC surface. Yellow and blue are the accent pair.
Colour Scale
Eight neutral steps from black to white. Yellow and blue each expand into four tints — saturated base down to near-white.
Transparency
Alpha-channel tokens for pill fills, borders, and overlays.

Semantic roles for text, borders, and pills on both surfaces. Always use role tokens — never reference scale tokens directly in components.

Fonts
Söhne by Klim Type Foundry. Three weights cover all RC surfaces. Söhne Mono Buch is reserved for code, data, and technical contexts exclusively.

Type Scale
Major Third modular scale — every step is ×1.25 the previous. Base is 15 px.
Full scale on dark. Mono and Buch weights hold at small sizes — Leicht (300) from H5 up, where optical thickening at contrast reversal matters.
Space Scale
Base-4 unit scale used for all layout spacing — padding, gaps, and margins. Never use arbitrary values outside this scale.
Illustrations
Illustrations are built from solid and dashed strokes at varying opacity, yellow accent points, and structured geometry. New constructs can be made by recombining these elements at different scales.
Graphs
Blue is the primary data colour. Yellow enters as a second series. Shown on alternating light and dark surfaces.

RC data visualizations reveal structure in research — relationships, cycles, distributions, and multi-dimensional profiles. Blue is the primary encoding colour; yellow marks significance.
Icons
We use Remix Icons line style for all interface icons — open source, MIT licensed. Remix offers line and fill variants; we use line throughout for a lighter, editorial feel.
Canvas Formats
Two aspect ratios for all RC social posts. Portrait for vertical feed placements; wide for banners and cross-platform sharing.
Every layout is built from rectangular zones merged from a 4 × 4 grid. Zones have no fixed role — either zone can hold an image, colour, or text.
layout-rules.mdAll zone boundaries align to the 4 × 4 grid. Cuts only at 25 %, 50 %, or 75 % of the safe area — no arbitrary splits.
Adjacent cells can merge into one zone. The merged result must always be a rectangle. No L-shapes or diagonals.
Dark and light are placeholders only. Either zone holds image, text, colour, or diagram — role is defined by content, not the grid.
Zones extend to the canvas edge. Cuts align to the SA grid lines but fills bleed to 0 % or 100 % — no margin preserved.
Zones stay within the 5 lu safe area. Gutter gaps between zones align to the dashed overlay. All zone corners are rounded.
The four corner zones are logo placement areas. The circular mark can sit in any corner depending on the layout. Colour to be defined.
Two zones can share the same background. One zone holds text, the other an image — the grid division is about content role, not colour contrast.
Bleed
Zones fill edge-to-edge. No margins. Hard cuts between zones. Use for bold, image-dominant posts.
Normal
Zones live inside the 5 lu safe area with gutters respected. Structured content, diagrams, and multi-section posts.
